Japanese Films Journey – May 2024
We are pleased to announce registration and the details of our May 2024 Japanese Films Journey. We approached these by chapters (or rather, Fumi, as they say in Japan), and plan to cover classical, post-war, and relatively modern. This will be a nice appetizer for our October Japanese Horror journey.
Founding Members get this journey for free. It is $20 for all others. You can also register at the bottom of this post.
Below are the Fumis and dates. Note that the links are to JustWatch so you can check if the film is available. We expect most of these films will be widely available.
- Fumi 1: Classic Sound Cinema: Osaka Elegy (1936), Humanity and Paper Balloons (1937) – May 8th at 7pm.
- Fumi 2: Post-War Cinema: Black River (1957), High & Low (1963) – May 22nd at 7pm
- Fumi 3: Modern Cinema: Paprika (2006), Like Father, Like Son (2013) – May 29th
