We are beyond excited to announce that we are joining the “Someone’s Favorite Productions” network. This is the brainchild of Ryan Verrill, who you might know as the guy keeping physical media alive with Disc-Connected and keeping physical media print alive with “The Physical Media Advocate” which can be found on Amazon and select media stores around the country.
Ryan has assembled a number of fantastic shows and we’re thrilled to have a seat at the table. Many of the shows are related to Physical Media, so Criterion Now and Criterion Close-Up will fit right in.
Additionally, you’ve probably heard or seen us mention Unwrap the Plastics numerous times. That is out upcoming Physical Media Journey, and it is being built, but we have set our sights higher. Being a part of this network will help plug us and that series into the world of physical media. It will help us keep up with all of the boutique labels across the globe putting out fantastic releases of modern and classic films. More on that series as we move forward, but for now, we hope you’ll enjoy the benefits of this partnership.
Oh, and as it happened we had planned to record at 1pm on a Thursday. What we didn’t plan on was that we would have already recorded an episode being critical of a Criterion boxset, and then the subsequent November titles being announced right before we recorded. We rolled the network announcement into an episode of Criterion Now. We had a little fun with this, and it is definitely not for kids. Here is the video link. The audio link will go on the podcast feed soon.
