This October, we are going to look at some Classic Hollywood horror, specifically Universal Monsters. While this is spooky season and the word “horror,” applies, this will be far from a spooky journey. Universal Monsters were a surprising success, and an example that B-films could compete with other studio blockbusters. The series was very much a business, which we’ll explore. We’ll also look at how they used genre to touch on universal (pun intended) themes. Finally, we’ll look at the comedic element.
- Call One – Thursday, October 16 at 8pm EST OG Monsters: The Invisible Man (1933), Bride of Frankenstein (1935), The Wolf Man (1941)
