Noirvember Blogathon – Details and Registration

That’s right, we are hosting a Blogathon. For those who have not participated, a film-based Blogathon is when numerous blogs will publish posts on a specific topic. These are high profile posts, as there are opportunities for cross-promotion, and the bloggers usually put their all into their posts. The results of the Blogathon could be anything from just a digital prize to show off on their website, or sometimes a tangible prize for a job well done.

Years ago, Aaron hosted a Criterion Blogathon with Kristina from Speakeasy and Ruth from Silver Screenings. It was an unqualified success, and we longed to host another one. The posts are still there over at Aaron’s old blog. It became a huge deal, and even got the attention of the Criterion Collection. They posted about it on their website.

Blogathons are still going, and we don’t mean to imply that they aren’t. Huge shout out to the CMBA (Classic Movie Bloggers Association) for keeping them up with their member blogs, and there are many other instances out there.

However, in the years that have passed, blogging in general has changed. There are some fantastic blogs still going, but the rise of social media, Letterboxd, YouTube, Podcasts, and other forms of film discourse, have taken some of the attention away from blogs. Jill and Aaron are both bloggers, and have many friends who are former and current bloggers, and we feel that this is a tradition that is invaluable and should continue. We also feel that the criteria for entering a Blogathon should change. We are going to lead that change with our #Noirvember Blogathon hosted by Cinejourneys.

Because of the software that we’ve built that hosts our Journeys, we have the ability to create a one-stop Blogathon HQ. We can accept Blog posts of course, but also Letterboxd reviews, YouTube videos, and practically anything. If you can think of a way to discuss a Film Noir topic, we can probably accommodate it.

Registration is free, and we want this to be a celebration across all film media. As we mentioned on our Criterion Now podcast with Imogen Sara Smith, Aaron is going to blog about The Big Sleep and Jill is going to blog about Murder, My Sweet.

For now, all you have to do is enter by registering below. You do not have to be a member of our website. This will get you access to the Blogathon HQ, the accompanying group, and the Discord. As we get closer, you’ll get instructions on how to enter with your title, submit your post, and also how to spread the word. We want this to be the best Blogathon ever!
