July 2025 is going to be our CineJourneys “homecoming.” We will be sending our free member shirts to Magic Hour subscribers, and exploring Japanese Samurai films for the month. We expect this Journey to be more comprehensive than most of the monthly programming.
We will hold three calls and encourage people to watch the films. We programmed films with reasonable running time, but if you want to watch Japanese Samurai epics such as Seven Samurai, then be our guest. There is no bad time to watch a classic samurai film.
Week 1 – July 10th at 8pm EDT Samurai I: Musashi Miyamoto, Mifune: The Last Samurai. Note that we are only expecting members to watch the first part of the Samurai Trilogy, but we will talk about all three films without spoiling the second or third parts. Those films are optional. We are pairing it with a documentary about Toshiro Mifune.
Week 2 – July 24th at 8pm EDT. Yojimbo and Harakiri. Optional: Sanjuro
