We are really happy to unveil the latest big thing we’ve been working on. Introducing CineJourneys Channels!
This was conceived for a couple of reasons. First, we wanted to give Guides the ability to utilize our platform in a more personalized way, and you may notice at some places on the website that we called this “Guide Channels.” That was the initial working title.
As I progressed with my book and we launched our Kickstarter campaign, we decided to use the website as a companion platform. With a topic like A24, where the story is very much in process and there is no pat ending in sight, there is a need to continue updating the book and staying fresh on the current state of film. For example, as I am wrapping up the book, I’ve identified a few directors who are still young in their career, but they have put out some tremendous films. They could be viewed and studied as auteurs in the years to come. We cannot have a massive book that takes years. We’ll want to update this frequently, and perhaps every couple of years put out updated print editions and have constantly updated digital editions.
We also have Journeys, Classes, Podcasts, and all sorts of bells and whistles that allows us to cover the topic more thoroughly. That same platform helps our Guides tackle their topics, and give subscribers a better experience in their cinematic Journeys.
The book is a great way to test drive this platform, and we have also added the Criterion Now podcast. Jill Blake will be migrating her Substack here, and given that we facilitate this platform, we will give this for free to our members. It could be thought as something resembling a Patreon or Substack in the sense that people can be supported for their personal projects, while also tying it into Journeys and Classes in the sense that they can offer people discounts and supplements to these projects.
Keep posted in the coming weeks as we’ll be adding new Channels to the platform. Our Guides have some exciting plans and we think this is the feature that will complete the ambition of this website.
